Entering the Awards 

Anyone who operates a registered business in the Algarve can enter the awards, you can also be nominated by someone else. 

The awards embrace the rich diversity of the regions businesses and recognises the outstanding contribution the Algarve brings to Portugal's economy in general.

All kinds of businesses and individuals can enter, from large enterprises and small to medium companies, Solo Entrepreneurs, inspiring leaders, online businesses, Not For Profit Organisations, Charities and Associations, the Algarve Business Awards look forward to opening the doors of opportunity to everyone that has something to shout about.

Entry is simple, just download the nomination form under the catagory you would like to enter, complete the information and submit it back to us online or send your printed nomination form by post before the deadline. 

​

Once all nominations have been received, our panel of Judges will help to decide the worthy finalists from each category, they will go on to attend our Grand Gala Award Night to claim their respective coveted title.

How are Finalists and Winners Selected?

All entries will be scrutinised for the correct criteria and passed to our judging panel where five semi finalists will be chosen for each award category.

In some cases where the award category is based on public nomination, the semi finalists will be chosen by the number of nominations they have as well as the judging panels votes. 

​

All semi finalists will be invited to a celebration cocktail party where the top three finalists will be announced and invited to the grand Gala Awards Night. To decide the winner, the three finalists will move on to be judged based on the following two penultimate judging elements

 

• a) The Information provided by the business in the initial stages

• b) An anonymous visit by a judge

 

The three finalists will be invited to the grand Gala Awards Night along with their colleagues, friends and family and one deserving business or individual will go on to claim their coveted award title of Winner.

What information should be provided by the business or individual on the nomination form?

Each category requires different criteria, this gives the entrant the opportunity to showcase their achievements in each area. Questions may be related to the following areas, the more information supplied the better.

• Business History

• Business Marketing

• Staff Training

• Business and Environmental Sustainability

• Business Successes during the past 12 months

• Support to the community

• Business Plans for the future

• Individual achievements

A visit by a Local Business Awards anonymous judge

Our anonymous judges may visit the business premises of each finalist and evaluate them based on their ability to deliver on the fundamental principles of the category they have entered or been entered for. 

If a visit to the business premises is not possible judges will evaluate the business' website and online presence (social media, advertising etc.) and may conduct impromptu telephone calls and/or send email communication to review the online services.

If the award is for a particular person, the people that have expressed a vote may be contacted by the judging panel to gain more insight into the individuals achievements.

Rules for Entry 

​

• The awards are open to anyone working in business services and operate within the Algarve

• All entries are treated confidentially.

• Entries will be judged by a panel of reputable independent and impartial adjudicators.

• Entries will not be returned.

• One copy of the submission is required.

• The judging panel reserves the right to move entries from one category to another if they feel it more appropriate. Please make sure all information is accurate at the time of entry.

• The Algarve Business Awards will not be held responsible for the publication of any information contained in the entry that was inaccurate.

• Final judging will take place aproximately 5 weeks prior to the Gala Awards Event in Vilamoura. Please make sure the nominees are able to attend.
